Mark Roggeman after 39 years retired in 2010 from the Denver Police Department. He has researched cult groups for 40 years. His research included infiltrating several cult groups. Information was gathered by assisting families who were affected by a cult.
Mark was involved extensively with investigations of the Concerned Christians group who were based in Denver. They believed the world would end in 2000 so they headed off to Israel. He assisted law enforcement both here and in Israel with the deportation of some of the members.
Training is available to law enforcement that provides information in the event an officer might encounter a cult type group. The training includes criminal activities that occurs in many of the cults, which is hidden from law enforcement due to the isolation. The training was provided at the National Gang Crime Research Center annual conference held in Chicago on three occasions. Presentations are given often to criminal justice classes at Regis and Metro Universities located in Denver.
Mark served as a member of the national board of directors of the "original" Cult Awareness Network during the early eighties and was a founding member of the Denver Affiliate. He was a contributing author to the book, Cults and Consequences, edited by Rachael Andres, James R. Lane, and published by the Jewish Federation, 1988.
Mark earned a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters Degree in Theology from Colorado Christian University and is continuing with studies. Also a member ICSA (International Cultic Studies Association) giving presentations at their conferences.
